Fleet Fuel & Cost Planner
Use the calculator above in advance for your heavy-duty machine, such as a hydraulic excavator, a hydraulic crane, a piling rig, or a crawler crane, to calculate fuel efficiency and cost per hour.
Estimated Fuel Consumption Chart (Diesel)
| Machine Type | Avg. Burn (Ltrs/Hr) | Load Factor |
|---|---|---|
| 20-Ton Excavator | 12 – 18 | Medium Duty |
| Piling Rig (SR-60/70) | 25 – 35 | High Idle/Torque |
| 100-Ton Crawler Crane | 10 – 15 | Intermittent |
| Hydra/Pick & Carry | 4 – 7 | Light/Standard |
Fuel Efficiency & Estimation FAQ
Q: How do you accurately compute hourly fuel consumption?
Ans: The most useful and accurate method is the “Full Tank Method.” Fill the tank to the brim, operate the machine for exactly 5 hours, and then refill. Divide the refill liters by 5 to find your hourly burn. Our calculator above automates this data to provide a precise fuel consumption estimate for project planning.
Q: Does a higher RPM always mean higher fuel consumption?
Ans: Yes, but modern Tier-4 engines feature a “Sweet Spot” (Eco Mode) where torque is at its highest while fuel efficiency is optimized. Operating the engine consistently above this range can increase your operational costs by 20% or more without a significant gain in productivity.
